What is Cub Scouts and who can join?
Any boy who has completed kindergarten. Cub Scouting provides boys with a program of communication, education, achievement, and fun that involves the parent and family.

The Tiger Cub program for first graders provides structured opportunity for a boy and his parent or other adult to spend quality time together learning more about the world, the community, and themselves. In turn, they enjoy projects, activities, and fellowship in a group of other boys and adults.

The Webelos program is designed for fourth and fifth graders. It is a continuation of Cub Scouting that involves the boy more in the dynamics of the small peer group, the impact of the adult role model becomes strong, and the program includes overnight camping.

What "group" will my son be in?
Boys are placed in “dens” with other boys in the same grade level. Den arrangements are completed both in the spring (around April) and fall (around September) when recruitment is completed.

What do we need to start and when do we need it?
Boys will need a uniform and handbook. The pack will supply the neckerchief. You should try and have the uniform by the first pack meeting if possible.

How often do the Cub Scouts meet?
There is one pack meeting per month from August to May. No meetings are held in the summer, but there are various summer activities. Den meetings are scheduled by each den leader, but typically the dens have two meetings per month, with various trips planned also.

How much time does it take?
Pack meetings are one hour, from 6:30 to 7:30 usually. Den meetings times are set by the den leaders. There are also achievement requirements that take place at home and those vary in the time it takes to complete them.

What do we have to do at home?
The Tiger, Wolf, and Bear rank required achievements are a combination of family activities at home and activities done during den meetings. You will have to work with your Cub Scout so that he will achieve the next rank. The focus changes in Webelos to more den or patrol oriented activities to prepare for Boy Scouts.

How is the pack funded?
The Cub Scouts is a non-profit organization. Therefore, all money collected is used for the pack. The pack has a few fundraising events during the year. All proceeds are split 50/50 with the scouts in the form of “scout bucks”. This money can be used by the scout for any pack related expense such as summer camp, blue and gold, or other events. The pack proceeds are used for awards, some event fees, and for the neckerchiefs.
